Hoy leyendo clarín me encontre con un escrito de McKenzie Wark: “A hacker manifesto”. Presenta algunas ideas interesantes y revolucionarias abordando lo social (la tecnología y la información) desde una perspectiva distinta y provocadora; muchos de los párrafos están directamente relacionados a la ideología marxista.
Coincidiendo o no con lo que dice, en todo o en parte, no deja de ser muy interesante.
Cabe destactar que el autor toma un término muy negativizado (hacker) pero lo usa en un sentido amplio.

Les extraigo algunas oraciones y párrafos que me resultaron interesantes.

Manifestation
And yet we don’t quite know who we are. While we recognise our distinctive existence as a group, as programmers, as artists or writers or scientists or musicians, we rarely see these ways of representing ourselves as mere fragments of a class experience that is still struggling to express itself as itself, as expressions of the process of producing abstraction in the world. (03)

Abstraction
To abstract is to construct a plane upon which otherwise different and unrelated matters may be brought into many possible relations. It is through the abstract that the virtual is identified, produced and released. The virtual is not just the potential latent in matters, it is the potential of potential. To hack is to produce or apply the abstract to information and express the possibility of new worlds. (04)
What makes our times different is that what now appears on the horizon is the possibility of a society finally set free from necessity, both real and imagined, by an explosion in abstract innovations.(07)

Production
The production of a surplus creates the possibility of the expansion of freedom from necessity. But in class society, the production of a surplus also creates new necessities. Class domination takes the form of the capture of the productive potential of society and its harnessing to the production, not of liberty, but of class domination itself. The ruling class subordinates the hack to the production of forms of production that may be harnessed to the enhancement of class power, and the suppression or marginalisation of other forms of hacking. What the producing classes - farmers, workers and hackers - have in common is an interest in freeing production from its subordination to ruling classes who turn production into the production of new necessities, who wrest slavery from surplus. The elements of a free productivity exist already in an atomised form, in the productive classes. What remains is the release of its virtuality..(11)

Class
Information, like land or capital, becomes a form of property monopolised by a class of vectoralists, so named because they control the vectors along which information is abstracted. Information circulated within working class culture as a social property belonging to all. But when information in turn becomes a form of private property, workers are dispossessed of it, and must buy their own culture back from its owners, the vectoralist class. The whole of time, time itself, becomes a commodified experience. (14)
Vectoralists try to break capital’s monopoly on the production process, and subordinate the production of goods to the circulation of information. The leading corporations divest themselves of their productive capacity, as this is no longer a source of power. Their power lies in monopolising intellectual property - patents and brands - and the means of reproducing their value - the vectors of communication. The privatisation of information becomes the dominant, rather than a subsidiary, aspect of commodified life. As private property advances from land to capital to information, property itself becomes more abstract. As capital frees land from its spatial fixity, information as property frees capital from its fixity in a particular object.(15)

Property
Money is the medium through which land, capital, information and labour all confront each other as abstract entities, reduced to an abstract plane of measurement. The gift becomes a marginal form of property, everywhere invaded by the commodity, and turned towards mere consumption. The gift is marginal, but nevertheless plays a vital role in cementing reciprocal and communal relations among people who otherwise can only confront each other as buyer and sellers of commodities.” (20)
The hacker class has a close affinity with the gift economy. The hacker struggles to produce a subjectivity that is qualitative and singular, in part through the act of the hack itself. The gift, as a qualitative exchange between singular parties allows each party to be recognised as a singular producer, as a subject of production, rather than as a commodified and quantified object. The gift expresses in a social and collective way the subjectivity of the production of production, whereas commodified property represents the producer as an object, a quantifiable commodity like any other, of relative value only. The gift of information need not give rise to conflict over information as property, for information need not suffer the artifice of scarcity once freed from commodification.” (21)
The vectoralist class contributed, unwittingly, to the development of the vectoral space within which the gift as property could return, but quickly recognised its error. But the vectoralist class quite rightly sees in the gift a challenge not just to its profits but to its very existence. The gift economy is the virtual proof for the parasitic and superfluous nature of vectoralists as a class. (22)

Vector
The vectoral class ascend to the illusion of an instantaneous and global plane of calculation and control. But it is not the vectoralist class that comes to hold subjective power over the objective world. The vector itself usurps the subjective role, becoming the sole repository of will toward a world that can be apprehended only in its commodified form. The reign of the vector is one in which any and every thing can be apprehended as a thing. The vector is a power over all of the world, but a power that is not evenly distributed. (25)
The vectoral class struggles at every turn to maintain its subjective power over the vector, but as it continues to profit by the proliferation of the vector, some capacity over it always escapes control.(26)

Education
When the ruling class preaches the necessity of an education it invariably means an education in necessity. Education is not the same as knowledge. Nor is it the necessary means to acquire knowledge. Education is the organisation of knowledge within the constraints of scarcity. Education ‘disciplines’ knowledge. One may acquire an education, as if it were a thing, but one becomes knowledgeable, through a process of transformation. Knowledge, as such, is only ever partially captured by education, its practice always eludes and exceeds it. (27)
The hacker class desires knowledge, not education.The hacker comes into being though the pure liberty of knowledge in and of itself. (31)

Hacking
The virtual is the true domain of the hacker. It is from the virtual that the hacker produces ever-new expressions of the actual. (33)
The immaterial nature of information means that the possession by one of information need not deprive another of it. (36)
The interest of the hacker class lies first and foremost in a free circulation of information(37)

Information
Information wants to be free but is everywhere in chains. Information is the potential of potential. (39)
The arrest of the free flow of information means the enslavement of the world to the interests of those who profit from information’s scarcity, the vectoral class. Privatising culture, education and communication as commodified content, distorts and deforms its free development, and prevents the very concept of its freedom from its own free development. While information remains subordinated to ownership, it is not possible for its producers to freely calculate their interests, or to discover what the true freedom of information might potentially produce in the world.(41)
It is not just information that must be free, but the knowledge of how to use it. Information in itself is a mere thing. It requires an active, subjective capacity to become productive. (43)

Se descubrió hace unos días una red de inteligencia militar (especialmente de la Marina) que llevaba un cuidadoso registro de personas y funcionarios relacionados a la defensa de los Derechos Humanos, entre otras cosas. Esto causó la separación de dos altos funcionarios de la Marina, pero también alimentó la llama que nos dice que no hay que callar, que hay que seguir, que hay que buscar la verdad y contarla, que hay que separarlos a todos y cada uno de ellos del poder y de las instituciones militares, que hay que denunciarlos, escracharlos y condenarlos social y judicialmente.
Entre las personas que figuraban en esos informes estaba el Presidente de la Nación y la Ministro de Defensa, piqueteros, estudiantes, defensores de los Derechos de los Indigenas, participantes de organizaciones de Derechos Humanos y mucha gente más que fue invadida, seguida, fotografiada, reportada, perseguida, calificada y tildada; aunque existe un Ley que expresamente lo prohibe.

En el mundo no falta toda clase de personas que defiende postulados estúpidos e intentan unificar a la humanidad bajo su estrechez.
Entre esa clase de especímenes estan los racistas o sexistas, los que creen que esta bien matar por petróleo, los nazis, y también (entre otros) los anti-gays: “Patria, Familia y Propiedad - y los que piensan distinto que se muden de mundo-” que van a ser los protagonistas de este cuento.

Hoy leí en La Nación Line una nota cuyo título decía: “Bill Gates se burló de las laptops de US$ 100“. Les extraigo:
“Lo último que se quiere hacer en una computadora de uso compartido es tenerlo sin algo como un disco (…) y con una diminuta pantalla”, dijo Gates

“Si vas a tener a gente compartiendo la computadora, consigue una conexión de banda ancha y ten a alguien allí que pueda ayudar al usuario, consigue una computadora decente donde se pueda leer verdaderamente el texto y no estés allí sentado dándole a la manivela mientras intentas teclear”, dijo Gates.

Sr Gates, el planeta no termina en la reja de su mansión. Para muchas personas en el mundo esta será la única posibilidad de acceder a una computadora en toda su vida… lamentamos que no venga con un monitor Flat de 19″; ni se ajuste a lo que es cool en EE.UU.
Como se nota que usted siempre puede elegir lo mejor y nunca se tiene que conformar…
Claro me olvidaba, usted es el hombre más rico del mundo (o al menos el declarado); pero si no lo sabe, enterese: en el mundo también hay pobres; seres humanos que con su tacho de basura podrían comer una semana (MPH). No le pido que sienta remordimiento, pero al menos podría demostrar respeto.
Imagino que usted piensa que si no puede tener un windows xp con licencia paga y Office instalado entonces es una computadora sin sentido. Pues enterese que no, para esta gente es una oportunidad aunque para usted no signifique un negocio.

Por si no lo sabe no en todas partes del mundo hay energía eléctrica; se que esa gente no forma parte de su mercado, pero no por eso dejan de formar parte de la humanidad. Así como tampoco agua potable u otras cosas escenciales para una vida digna; asi que es de esperar que no en todo el mundo exista banda ancha…
Ojalá que todas estas cosas sean algún día como deben, que llegue la luz, el agua y la banda ancha; pero hasta entonces: ¿Porqué negarles algo que se les puede dar? Por que a usted no le conviene o no lo hace más rico?
Seguramente esas máquinas no reflejarán el “standar del mercado” (aunque su standar y el mio son seguro muy distintos). Pero es empezar por algo. Seguramente sus usuarios no van a jugar WOW online. Pero al menos van a ver las letritas en la pantalla..
Será que se olvido de cuando vió por primera vez una consola, o será que estaba más preocupado por como sacarle dinero a ese nuevo aparato que por la real revolución que implicaba para la humanidad?

Mejor preocupese por los problemas de seguridad de su Sistema Operativo, que de aquellos que quizá nunca lo puedan usar se están ocupando el MIT y Google.

Leyendo Microsiervos descubrí el post: Carlo M. Cipolla: estupidez humana. Les extraigo las leyes fundamentales de la estupidez humana, y un comment. En el post puedeen leer explicaciones de cada una de ellas.

Primera Ley Fundamental: Siempre e inevitablemente todos subestiman el número de individuos estúpidos en circulación.

Segunda Ley Fundamental: La probabilidad de que cierta persona sea estúpida es independiente de cualquier otra característica de esa persona.

Tercera Ley Fundamental (o de Oro): una persona estúpida es aquella que causa pérdidas a otra persona o grupo de personas sin obtener ninguna ganancia para sí mismo e incluso incurriendo en pérdidas.

Desgraciado: aquel que se causa un perjuicio a sí mismo, beneficiando a los demás.
Inteligente: aquel que se beneficia a sí mismo, beneficiando a los demás.
Bandido: aquel que obtiene beneficios para sí mismo, perjudicando a los demás.
Estúpido: aquel que causa pérdidas a otros, perjudicándose a la vez a sí mismo.

Cuarta Ley Fundamental: Las personas no estúpidas subestiman siempre el potencial nocivo de las personas estúpidas.

Macroanálisis y Quinta Ley Fundamental: La persona estúpida es el tipo de persona más peligrosa que existe.

El corolario de la ley dice así: El estúpido es más peligroso que el bandido.

Hay un viejo adagio que resume el corolario de esta ley: “Es más dañino el estúpido que el malvado, porque el malvado comete maldades cuando tiene ocasión, mientras que el estúpido lo es a tiempo completo”.

Google se niega, y con TODA la razón, a informar al Gobierno de los EE.UU. sobre las búsquedas de los usuarios y argumenta que eso sería el principio del fin de la privacidad en Internet.
En realidad, y ya en una vía judicial, el Gobierno dice necesitar estos datos para combatir la pornografía infantil y el acceso de los chicos a la pornografía (que sin ningún lugar a dudas debería ser responsabilidad de los Padres y no del Gobierno; además internet es un medio de expresión y si puede venderse una revista pornográfica en un kiosko de revistas no hay razón para prohibir contenidos pornográficos protagonizados por adultos en Internet).
Pero a las claras las implicaciones de ceder a este petitorio pueden ser enormes. En primer lugar la marca vería seriamente afectada su credibilidad y su estrecha relación de confianza con los usuarios; en segundo lugar esto significa instaurar el “Gran Hermano” que tanto les gusta a los yankis en Internet, uno de los pocos medios en donde algunos todavía podemos sentirnos medianamente libres. Además podría revelar o contribuir a revelar el gran secreto del exito de la compañía: su sistema de búsqueda.
Por cualquier lado por el que lo mire me parece un atropello a la libertad y la privacidad, es de vital importancia que Google gane esta batalla judicial por que de ello depende mucho más que la escusa de la pornografía y los niños, es un paso hacia otra libertad civil mansillada. Microsoft, AOL y Yahoo! ya cedieron a este petitorio.
Por otra parte el Gobierno de EE.UU. debería implementar su propia forma de recabar información sobre este tema, en lugar de poner contra las cuerdas a una empresa que no hace más que defender sus derechos y los de sus usuarios; por que para eso destinan los enormes presupuestos que se asignan a la Seguridad. Podrían dejar de hacerle la guerra a cuanto país encuentran en el mapa por los motivos más falaces y más absurdos, y dedicarse a arreglar este tipo de problemas con ese dinero.
